The Conservatory of Religious Heritage in Alsace presents an exhibition on the theme “Death in Alsace in the Jewish, Catholic, and Protestant Religions.”
Death is part of life… and religions each have their own unique perspective on it, tied to their view of the visible and invisible worlds. Rituals help people navigate this very sensitive, and sometimes distressing, moment, which ultimately leads to the remembrance of the deceased. Beyond social norms and spiritual approaches, the remembrance of the deceased is also important in every religious tradition; cemeteries become primary sites of remembrance.
The exhibition explores these themes through the lens of Judaism, Catholicism, and Protestantism; photographs and artifacts illustrate the themes.
